We’re Baaaaack! Part one!

We had a wonderful time in Destin! The weather was gorgeous and the water was cool but you got used to it almost instantly! We didn’t see any jellyfish even though there were purple flags every day. The water was fairly rough, but that makes it all the more fun to ride boogie boards in! I have bruises to prove I rode! I of course burned the tops of my feet the very first day at the beach; seems to be a theme with me. I looked like a granny trying to walk the next few days but it didn’t stop me from going back!

The kids had a great time too. They made sand castles and played at the pool. Will does not want anything to do with the gulf water, forget it. He was happy to play in the sand. Parker did well, but he held on for dear life just in case! We ate at a yummy restaurant called McGuire’s Irish Pub and the food was wonderful. I had heard it was good, but I am such a skeptic. It is voted the number one place to eat in Destin according to TripAdvisor. They were right; it was good!

Wednesday morning we were sitting at the beach and got to see about 12 dolphins swim by, very close. First time I ever saw dolphins. We went to the Gulfarium one afternoon and saw a few shows and some sea lions and sharks and things. That is a neat place for kids especially. We went to the Destin Commons and ate at Johnny Rockets for lunch, good burgers and fries fyi.

On Friday, craziness insued! We were taking the kids down to the playground  and we were getting off the elevator when a lady and her HUGE German Shepherd dog (the biggest one I’ve ever seen in my life) were standing ready to get on. Well, Parker walks off the elevator following Jeremy and the dog lunges and bites him on the left arm! It was absolutely an unprovoked attack! Thankfully a staff member saw the entire thing and got us to the right people who sent us to the ER. We go and get him checked out and he’s fine thankfully. The sheriff even comes to the ER and tells us she visited the owner of the dog and it was up to date on it’s shots.  She said that some German Shepherds are territorial and they will do that. Personally, if they are unstable at any time, they don’t need to be around kids. PERIOD. So, we had to fill out animal control reports and accident reports, etc. I even had to call the Walton County Animal Control office this morning to give an account of what happened. The lady I spoke with said the dog had been removed from the property. I don’t know what if anything will happen to the dog. The owner was extremely upset and said the dog had never bit anyone before and she seemed very genuine and was concerned about Parker. I am just thankful to God that he didn’t get hurt worse. And the condominium is paying for the bills…..

Aside from that, we had a wonderful vacation. Jeremy’s parents came with us and they seemed to enjoy themselves too! Will is already telling us to go back to the “con-o” (condo!)

I have a few more pics to share but will do so in another post!
